Il 2016 vede il ritorno di WAS con "Sunday", disco frutto di uno sforzo corale (DeAmbula, Costello's, Tiny Speaker), che rappresenta summa (di una scrittura maturata nel tempo) e allo stesso tempo superamento delle premesse alle quali ci aveva abituato, introducendo ora inedite tessiture elettriche e un'elettronica discreta e funzionale alla forma canzone.
Così coesistono in un lavoro onesto e ispirato, l'electro-ambient su nuance alt di "A Swamp", il folk obliquo a stelle e strisce macchiato di wave in "Marten" (un'espressività a tratti riecheggiante il compianto Mark Linkous) e il pop raffinato di "Funny Mate".
Al disco hanno collaborato Mauro Vacca e Roberta Etzi (già Pussy Stomp) che seguono WAS anche in dimensione live.
Mixato dallo stesso WAS, con il prezioso aiuto di Daniele Murgia (che ne ha anche curato il mastering), "Sunday" è un disco di pop maturo e sincero, che non mancherà di raccogliere l'attenzione trasversale di ascoltatori e critica, ampia com'è la sfera di riferimento della sua cifra.
